I Forgot Why I Was Doing This...

When was the last time you walked into a space that completely shifted the way you were feeling?

Space creation is truly powerful.

I love the idea process, the envisioning, the creative flow, the product sourcing; I love researching, dreaming big and wildly, mixing and matching, experimenting, and most of all I love imagining what will go on in the space as I’m creating it and giddily giggling to myself knowing that all sorts of magic will ensue upon completion.

I fully recognize in my heart that helping women curate their personal dream space is my dharma. But…why?  Why do I deeply feel that it’s so important to help the world in this way? I literally forgot why…until recently.

Last year I had the absolute pleasure of working with a client by the name of Nicole.  When she first contacted me, she was feeling really stagnant in her life, as well as lost, uninspired and knew something needed to change.  She sent me photos of her space, and as we had our initial session we uncovered the specifics as to what she was looking to feature in her room (as in art, furniture, vibe, color, emotion, etc.) as well as focus on what lights her up and how we can incorporate that more into her space.  She also felt a bit overwhelmed by all the items in her room and was looking to bring more organization.

After the beautiful process of setting clear intentions, decluttering, mood boards, art curation, self discovery, bedroom styling and implementation, Nicole sent me a heartfelt testimonial that read:

It’s like the gates that were closing off the creativity, love, courage, and life just broke and it’s all pouring out of me. I’ve found something that gives me so much joy and happiness and a way to express all the dreamy and sometimes nonsensical thoughts in my head.

I feel so much freer and have a much stronger sense of self than I did before you and your rainbows entered my life!

I was having possibly the worst day at work and felt like shit needed to change when I first contacted you and it’s insane what has transpired outwardly and inwardly because of it. So thank you!”

...I literally burst into tears.  Her words felt so real and so familiar to me.

I was taken back to 2011.  A few years after college, I left San Diego and moved home to live at my Mom’s house in the Bay Area.  I was SO lost, and so confused about where my life was taking me.

For years it was an endless and painstaking search for what my life purpose was.  What the hell was I going to do with my life?

I felt sad and pathetic about living at my Mom’s house in my early mid 20s, despite her welcoming my presence with open arms (thanks, Mama).  I was done with college...I thought I was supposed to have figured all of this out by now?! (Side note: If any of you are in that situation, it helps to remember that there are SO many people in this world who don’t have family to fall back on - this perspective really allowed space for me to hold more gratitude for my undesired “situation”).  Long story short - I lived there on and off for the next few years, saved up money, and in 2015, I moved into an amazing intentional community in San Francisco.

My room was small yet cozy.  After years of purposely not decorating my room at my Mom’s house (to make it super special once I did have my own spot), I decided to fully make it MY sanctuary and poured my love and intention and hard earned savings into styling the space in a way that was unique and special to me.  I had earned it!

I finally felt “at home.” It was in that room and in that house that I discovered my passion for space creation.

In doing so I became “Space Queen” deemed by my incredibly supportive and encouraging housemates, and also co-created Soul Palace, my immersive experience art installation, with Dave.  I had never felt so alive, connected, expanded, seen, inspired, expressed, creative and activated as I did after curating my space! It was totally life changing. My passion and gifts rose to the surface, my heart flourished, and my sense of self and purpose strengthened.  

A few months later in 2016 (2 years before I even created my Instagram account), when I decided that space creation was my chosen path, I sat down and wrote this mission statement to give my passion some grounded purpose:

"I have this crazy idea to inspire women to connect with their authentic highest selves through self expression, creativity, intuition and vision to create the space of their dreams that makes them feel more at home and alive than they have ever felt in their whole lives (in their spaces and in their beings). My mission is to ignite the fire of their passions, their well being, their freedom, to dream big dreams, and make their wildest fantasies a reality.

I envision my brand looking whimsy, inviting, light, unique and holographic rainbow.  My visual brand will be a representation of the inner workings of my heart, soul, and insanely creative and inspirational highest self.  It will inspire women to realize that they are incredibly creative also and have many gifts to offer the world (whether they realize it or not); that these gifts can begin to show themselves in their very own homes, as they did mine."

Fast forward to Nicole’s message - I realized my mission statement had come TRUE!  I literally forgot what I was truly doing all of this for and Nicole’s words brought me back.  Her experience is exactly the kind of life changing magic that I knew I was destined to be in co-creation with.

I’m here to give you permission to bring your wild inner rainbow out into your space and into your life!  This is NOT about surrounding yourself with superficial expensive material things. It is about enjoying the material world in a way that lights you UP and serves as a reflection of the inner rainbow that is inside of you, so that you can go out in the world and light others up through your unique, heartfelt, and inspired authenticity.
